In a country that is so diverse and so culturally rich, what does it mean to be American? I try finding that answer by looking into my own family’s roots in China by tracing the lives of my grandparents. “From California to Kaiping” aired on KVIE PBS in November 2010 as a Viewfinder program. It was produced without funding over six months, where I completed the majority of the production, including research, interviews, writing and editing.
