This is the winning entry to the 2009 Fox News Channel College Challenge. The piece, about Hawaii’s Akaka Bill, beat out 36 other universities to win the $20,000 grand prize and a trip to New York City to appear live on the Fox and Friends morning show. My partner and I collected nearly 20 hours of footage and interviewed numerous people from Hawaii’s educational, political and local communities. We shot, edited and wrote the piece in its entirety.
